Evan is so great. He has been eating every four hours and finally feels hungry. They increased his feeds from 10 to 15 mls today and he might go up again tonight if he still looks hungry. We are all so happy. It looks like we will be here for the weekend (and maybe longer, who knows) but that is OK because we don't want to rush his progress. He has to be very comfortable with eating and pooping before he comes home.
He had a special visitor today just in time for his removal from the lights. His jaundice is gone for now but they will check him in the morning just in case. He is also acting like a newborn and becoming ornery around feeding and changing. At those times he roots like he should and will hold on to the nipple a few sucks. He then promptly falls asleep and forgets about what he just wanted to do! It took a long time to feed him but we will just keep trying. They only had to tube feed him once today to get his belly full.
Here is his special visitor who loves him more than anything. She had a precious two hours alone with him (if you don't count nurses walking around all the time) during our lunch break. She held him and we know he recognized her. He loves to look at her just as much as she loves to look at him. I took a quick picture on our way out so that I could capture it but then I felt that she needed that alone time. She is so special to us and we adore the person that she is. We have unconditional love for her and her family. We know this has been difficult but we have never wavered on the decision that Evan was meant to be part of our forever family.
We love you Amanda!
This is a short video when we were trying to wake Evan up to eat and were practicing the pacifier. We had to stop it abruptly because the nurse started to talk to us but we think it is so cute. He is absolutely precious.
