Daddy's Boy

(No IV anymore, my head is free)

Evan is doing so well and his feedings are getting better everyday. Alex is so good at feeding him I had to get some pictures. Since his hands are bigger he can hold his chin and the bottle a little easier than I can. Evan needs support to remember how to latch and suck. Evan also loves Alex's voice and always stops to look at him. I don't know who loves each other more. He is so patient and will sit for the hour feeding it takes to get Evan to take 49 mls and burps him like a pro. The nurses are in love with Alex because he does all the stats like the temperature, belly measure, diaper change, and moving cords. He is so gentle and loving to the little guy that they have already bonded. He calls him his "little buddy."

The top picture is of Evan after he pulled his feeding tube out. He was so excited to finally get rid of it for a few minutes. He didn't complain that he had to get it back in but you could tell by all the sneezing that he can't wait to have it out again.

Evan's progress is great and we are just waiting on him doing full feedings without tube support for 24 hours. Hopefully it is soon because we would love to take him home.

We have been thinking a lot of Amanda today because Evan is one week old. Her and her family are in our prayers and we tell Evan already that he is loved very much by a special person called Amanda.

Another first today was getting spit up and pooped on. I was so excited that I almost cried and the nurses were laughing. I told them that I have waited seven years for spit up and poop and that I was going to enjoy it. Every second with Evan is precious and we take nothing for granted. We love him more than anything and think he is the cutest baby ever.

Ahhhh! He's adorable and we are soooo excited for you guys!
Don't worry Sarah, the first "outside-of-the-womb" thing Hunter did was pooping on me while I was feeding him. LOL! Alex is taking to this new "job" perfectly and they look so cute together.

On a different note, did you guys get our e-mail? I know it's been hectic for you guys and you don't need to respond right now, but I was just wondering if you got it because I don't know if you guys have changed e-mails.

We love you guys!!! S, J and H

He is absolutely adorable!! You guys are awesome parents, and how cute is he with Daddy? Thanks for saying what you said about enjoying every second and taking nothing for granted. I needed to hear that today. Especially with my wild, red headed, 2 1/2 year old. :o) Can't wait for more updates.
