Our Family

Alex and I met because of horses. We both brought them to college and ended up roping together. I was just learning and he was eager to teach me. We spent a lot of time talking while on the back of a horse and became friends. I knew he liked me and when we finally started to date we were immediately in love. After dating for several months I got a job up in Alaska and Alex followed me there. We had the best time working together. We also had a lot of time off to hike and fish. When the summer was over we got married in the Logan Temple surrounded by our family. It was a very special time for us. Each year brings us new challenges, but we are even more in love and committed to each other.

Alex's Childhood-

Being raised on a farm was a fun childhood. My family raised sheep, cows, chickens, etc. I competed in 4-H, FFA, and rodeos from nearly the beginning. As a family we camped every summer and went on vacations like Yellowstone in the Fall.

My dad is a great example of a father. When I was 14 he got cancer and was in the hospital for several weeks. My older sister and I took care of the farm and my younger sister and brother. During this time he was very ill and still has trouble to this day with repercussions of the illness. This trial showed me how strong a family can be and come together during a crisis.

My mother is a kindergarten teacher and loves children. She is a good cook and loves to garden. Both of my parents love growing their own food and I hope that I will someday do the same.

I had a great upbringing and was very fortunate in my family. We are lucky to live close to them and know they will be a major part of our childrens lives.

Sarah's Childhood-

My family was centered around animals because my dad was a vet and we lived on a farm. We had everything from chickens to cows. We also participated in 4-H and local horse shows. As a family we went on horseback packing trips every summer. I also used to ride with my little sister every day.

During summer and spring breaks I hung out with my dad because I loved going to work with him. Even as a teenager I still spent a lot of time with him going to ranches and being his technician.

My mom and I also had a lot of fun. We both love to decorate and antique shop at flea markets. Even today when I visit we spend at least a day shopping for "junk."

I had a wonderful childhood and hope to give as much love and fun to my future children.
